Medanta Lucknow Honours Blood Donors Ahead of World Blood Donor Day

TIL Desk Lucknow:👉Medanta Lucknow organised a special programme on the eve of World Blood Donor Day to recognise and honour voluntary blood donors and organisers who supported blood donation camps over the past year. The event was aimed at appreciating their contribution towards saving lives and promoting awareness about the importance of regular blood donation.

Individuals who donated blood at the Medanta Blood Centre during the last one year, as well as organisers who helped conduct blood donation drives, were felicitated with certificates of appreciation, commemorative gifts and saplings. The chief guest for the occasion was renowned theatre personality and film actor Dr. Anil Kumar Rastogi, a Padma Shri awardee. Senior doctors and hospital officials were also present at the event.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Ashish Tiwari, Head of Medanta Blood Centre, highlighted the growing need for blood donation and urged people to donate blood regularly. He said that a single unit of blood can help in the treatment of multiple patients and that timely availability of blood often proves crucial in saving lives.

To spread awareness and encourage greater public participation, especially among young people, Medanta Lucknow also organised a two-minute short video competition on the theme “Value of Blood.” The initiative sought to inspire the youth to understand the significance of blood donation and actively contribute to the cause.

A blood donation camp was also scheduled at the Medanta Blood Centre on World Blood Donor Day, where interested individuals could register and donate blood.

Addressing the gathering, Dr. Tiwari said, “When a person donates blood, he or she does not merely donate blood but also gives hope to a family. Every day, hospitals receive patients in urgent need of blood, and regular donations can ensure that no patient has to wait during a medical emergency.”

The event also featured fun activities and games for donors, making the experience memorable. Medanta Lucknow appealed to all healthy individuals to come forward and donate blood, emphasizing that a small act of kindness can help save precious lives.
