TIL Desk Lucknow/ PHD Chamber of Commerce and Industry with the support of the Office of the Development Commissioner (Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises), Ministry of MSME, Govt. of India is organizing Two-Day National Level Intellectual Property (IP) Rights Programme on 14th and 15th of March 2024 at Fairfield by Marriott, Lucknow (Uttar Pradesh). The National IP Yatra Programme had participation of senior officials from Govt. of Uttar Pradesh, Ministry of MSME, senior officials of PHDCCI and IPR experts from United and United. The programme had participation of more than 150 people including MSMEs, start-ups, students from law and technical universities.
Furthermore, PHDCCI announced the launch of UP Chapter’s Women Sub-Committee – Women in Business Alliance (WIBA). This initiative aims to empower and support women entrepreneurs in the state by providing them with a platform for networking, mentorship, and access to resources. Rakesh Sachan, Cabinet Minister, MSME, Khadi & Village Industries, Sericulture, Handloom & Textiles, Govt. Uttar Pradesh inaugurated the session and in his address he mentioned that today UP is developing in leaps and bounds under the dynamic leadership of Prime Minister and Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh. He encouraged the youth towards entrepreneurship so that they can become job givers rather job seekers. He also apprised various schemes of the UP Govt. focusing on promoting entrepreneurship, MSMEs and startups of the state. He also shed light on the recent launch of the Micro Entrepreneur Accident Insurance Scheme which is providing financial support of up to ₹5 lakh to micro entrepreneurs.
Pranjal Yadav, Secretary, Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises and Export Promotion Department, Government of Uttar Pradesh, in his address mentioned that India has become a global market in terms of industrialization and the whole world is eying on India for investment opportunities and business collaborations. He highlighted various schemes such as ODOP, Prime Minister Employment Generation Programme etc. which is supporting the small enterprises for their capacity building and growth. He further added that Lucknow is going to be a textile hub in the coming years as UP Govt. has already earmarked about 1000 acres of land for establishment of textile park which would bring a revolutionary change which would boost the industrialization, increase the employment rate and also help in achieving the goal of Uttar Pradesh towards the 1 trillion dollar economy.
Dr Ranjeet Mehta, Executive Director, PHDCCI in his address welcomed all the dignitaries, participants and speakers present during the session. He briefed about the role of PHD Chamber which acts as a catalyst in promiting industries, entrepreneurs and MSMEs. He also presented the theme of the conference.
V K Verma, Joint Director and Head of Office, MSME-DFO Kanpur, Ministry of MSME, Govt. of India in his address mentioned the role of MSME-DFO, Ministry of MSME, Govt. of India to promote growth and development of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises and providing all necessary hand-holding support and assistance to the MSMEs of Uttar Pradesh. He further apprised about various other schemes of the Ministry highlighting about the Prime Minister’s Rozgar Yojana, Technology Up-gradation, MSME Champion Scheme and MSME Innovative Scheme. He also mentioned the participants about the reimbursement scheme guidelines of the Ministry and urged MSMEs to come forward and take the benefit from the PHDCCI IPFC Centres.
Manish Sinha, General Manager – SIDBI, Lucknow in his address highlighted that Small Industries Development Bank of India (SIDBI) was set up for Promotion, Financing and Development of the Micro, Small and Medium Enterprise (MSME) sector as well as for co-ordination of functions of institutions engaged in similar activities. He further mentioned that the main aim of SIDBI is to facilitate and strengthen credit flow to MSMEs and address both financial and developmental gaps in the MSME eco-system.
Dr Sanjeeva Kumar Majumdar, Senior Manager, National Research Development Corporation (NRDC) in his address mentioned that NRDC facilitates the MSMEs and startups in access of newer technologies, access of market, access of incubation, access of funds, guidance on IPRs. He also highlighted that in order to leverage the innovation ecosystem in the country, NRDC has established an Incubation Centre in its premises at New Delhi and offers a conducive environment for the entrepreneurs and early stage start-ups to develop their ideas, redefine business models and launch successful ventures.
D P Goel, in his theme address mentioned about the need for promoting IPR to provide competitive strength to MSME sector in the domestic and export markets. Further he mentioned that the intellectual property is an added dimension to the factors of production. He briefed that intellectual property is most valuable property as compared to any physical property and IP can be utilized for raising resources and take monetary and economic benefits. He also invited all the MSMEs to attend the IP Helpdesk Camp which is scheduled on the next day to get one-to-one filing support and getting their queries resolved regarding any IP issues.
Rajesh Nigam, Co-Chair, Uttar Pradesh State Chapter, PHDCCI in his concluding remarks mentioned that academics and industry collaboration is needed to make IP ecosystem more robust in the country. He also thanked all the dignitaries and the participants for sparing their valuable time and joining in this important programme. He highlighted the importance of organizing such relevant sessions frequently in the State of Uttar Pradesh. He also apprised that PHDCCI IPFC centres organizes seminars, workshops and conferences on various topics related to Intellectual Property Rights to promote IP in various states.
Mr Atul Srivastava, Regional Director, PHDCCI gave the vote of thanks in the technical session while Ms Riddhi Garg, Resident Officer, Uttar Pradesh Chapter, PHDCCI moderated the entire session.
The inaugural session was followed by technical sessions wherein experts namely Mr Vasant Chandra, Head Prosecution, United and United elaborated on the overview of IPR and highlighted some recent issues raised because of IP violations. Mr Anmol Kakkar, Associate, United and United deliberated on the topics related to registering IP and its procedures, patent informatics, commercialization and tech transfer and also from the gamut of IP related topics which are essential for businesses to grow and scale-up. Dr Vikas Bhati, Associate Professor, NLU, Lucknow also addressed the techical session and highlighted the importance of role of academia and industry collaboration for boosting the IP ecosystem in India.
