TIL Desk Lucknow :👉“NavPrabhat’ a kathak event at the Valmiki Rangshala Auditorium, Sangeet Natak Akademi, Lucknow. The event was organized by Raag Prabhat Kathak Nritya Bhoomi (management head Ms. Vanya Bharadwaj), and was hosted by Gauri Bharadwaj to conclude their 3-weeks kathak workshop held from 16 December 2024-04 January 2025. The event was directed and choreographed by Riny Bharadwaj, a kathak artist and the director of Raag Prabhat Kathak Nritya Bhoomi. The event focused on showcasing the various aspects of kathak and highlighting the importance of taking this classical dance form forward and to the public.
The event started around 05:00 pm with the lightning of the lamp by the chief guests Justice Ashok Kumar, President of State Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission, Uttar Pradesh and Rachana, director of Rachana Prabhat Productions along with Riny Bharadwaj, the director Raag Prabhat – Kathak Nritya Bhoomi.
The event showcased a glimpse of a pure kathak piece performed by the students of Raag Prabhat Kathak Nritya Bhoomi dance institute. The performances of the day started with the Guru Vandana followed by showcasing the different aspects of kathak learned during the workshop by the students. The event showcased 7 performances by the students of the workshop on various semi-classical songs. The concluding kathak performance was by their mentor and guru, Riny Bharadwaj, a professional kathak dancer and kathak teacher who started her performance with Ardhang, followed by Teentaal and concluded her performance with a Dadra. All the performances were choreographed by Ms. Riny Bharadwaj.
The performances of the day were followed by a keynote by Riny Bharadwaj where she shared her experience and knowledge of the kathak dance as well as the workshop. The event concluded with thank you notes from the chief guests where they shared their experience of the event followed by certificate distribution.
