Safe Construction of 14-Foot-Deep Sewer Manholes in Takhwa Village: Relief for Over 900 Households

TIL Desk Lucknow:👉 To provide relief from the severe issues of sewer overflow and clogging in the Takhwa Village area of Gomti Nagar, Suez undertook the repair and reconstruction of two sewer manholes, each 14 feet deep. This task was extremely complex and challenging; however, by strictly adhering to all necessary safety standards, the Suez team successfully completed the project.

According to reports, the old sewer line—originally laid by the LDA approximately 50 years ago—had suffered extensive damage over time due to rodents and other factors. The internal walls of the manholes were completely dilapidated, resulting in persistent issues of sewer overflow and clogging throughout the area. Given that the manholes exceeded 14 feet in depth, the reconstruction work presented significant technical difficulties.

Suez accorded the highest priority to safety throughout the execution of this project. All essential safety protocols were implemented at the worksite, including barricading, gas monitoring, the use of safety equipment, and the deployment of trained personnel. The entire process was executed in a phased and secure manner to ensure the safety of both the workforce and local residents.

Following the reconstruction of these two manholes, over 900 households in Takhwa Village have experienced significant relief from the problems of sewer overflow and clogging.

Rajneesh Sharma, Network Manager at Suez, stated, “This project was technically quite challenging, as the internal structure of the old manholes was completely compromised. Our team successfully completed this task while strictly adhering to all safety standards. Suez’s priority is not merely to complete a project, but to deliver safe and sustainable solutions.”
