Rice basmati and other bold grains remain up

TIL Desk/Business/New Delhi/ Prices of rice basmati and other bold grains extended gains for the second straight week at the wholesale grains market on the back of increased demand against tight stocks position due to pause in supplies. However, wheat eased on reduced offtake by flour mills.

Marketmen said besides rising demand, fall in arrivals from growing regions mainly pushed up rice basmati and other bold grain prices. In the national capital, rice basmati common and Pusa-1121 variety went up by Rs 200 and Rs 100 to Rs 7,400-7,500 and Rs 6,700-6,800 per quintal, respectively.

Other bold grains like bajra and maize rose by Rs 50 and Rs 40 to Rs 1,470-1,475 and Rs 1,350-1,355 per quintal, respectively. Barley also edged higher by Rs 10 to Rs 1,600-1,610 per quintal.

On the other hand, wheat dara (for mills) fell by Rs 15 to Rs 1,975-1,980 per quintal. Atta chakki delivery followed suit and eased to Rs 1,985-1,990 against last close of Rs 2,000-2,005 per 90 kg.
