TIL Desk Lucknow:When the stars call, only the brave dare to answer! In an extraordinary cosmic tribute, COLORS makes galactic history by naming a star Apollena, honouring its first-ever space-based drama ‘Apollena – Sapno Ki Unchi Udann’. With this celestial gesture, the channel not only lights up the sky but also ignites a fire in the hearts of dreamers everywhere, urging them to soar higher for their dreams. A stellar addition to COLORS’ universe of compelling storytelling, the show tells the inspiring tale of a small-town girl with big ambitions – Apollena, who lives by the motto ‘Kar Ke Dikhaungi’. Determined to become India’s first female astronaut, she embarks on a journey to live her dream and restore her father’s honour. It explores the gravity of personal struggles, as Apollena battles the crushing weight of being branded as ‘gaddaar ki beti’ (daughter of a traitor). Her father, once tarnished by scandal, is committed to help her rise above adversities. Starring Aditi Sharma in the titular role and Sandeep Baswana as Girdhar Shukla, and produced by Four Lions Films Private Limited and Katha Kottage Production LLP, ‘Apollena – Sapno Ki Unchi Udann’ premieres on December 3rd and will air every day at 6:00 pm only on COLORS.
As part of a stellar initiative to inspire curiosity about the cosmos, COLORS took the message of Apollena – Sapno Ki Unchi Udann to the next level. Actors Aditi Sharma and Sandeep Baswana, joined by Dr. Rajashree Bothale, a former ISRO scientist, led a special event for local schoolgirls at the Regional Science Centre in Lucknow. The event was designed to ignite young minds with the possibilities of space science. Dr. Bothale guided the girls through an illuminating tour, answering their questions and uncovering the mysteries of the universe. Meanwhile, Aditi and Sandeep encouraged the girls to pursue careers in space science and shared insights about their upcoming show.
In a truly celestial moment, COLORS made history by naming a star “Apollena” in honor of the show, symbolizing that no dream is too far, and no ambition too high. The girls who attended the event were presented with the official star registration certificate, reminding them of the spirit of #KarKeDikhaungi. To further inspire the next generation of dreamers, the girls were given paper rockets to write down their own dreams and aspirations. In a heartwarming moment, Aditi led the group in launching their rockets into the air, sending their hopes soaring as a powerful symbol of unity and ambition.
Talking about visiting Lucknow, Aditi Sharma says, “Meeting the young minds of Lucknow and Dr. Rajashree Bothale was a delight! My interaction with them reminded me of how limitless the dreams of young girls can be and they truly embody the spirit of ‘kar ke dikhaungi’ just like Apollena. As I spoke to them about Apollena’s journey to the stars, I could see a spark in their eyes, a desire to break barriers and redefine what’s possible. In some ways, I was transported back to my own childhood dreams while meeting these girls. I hope Apollena’s story motivates them to pursue their own ‘unchi udann’.”
Sandeep Baswana shared his thoughts on inspiring the schoolgirls of Lucknow to pursue space studies, saying, “I’m hopeful for the future after meeting these bright young minds in Lucknow and watching them talk about space science with such great enthusiasm. I play the character of Apollena’s father, a man who stands by his daughter at every step of her journey, no matter the odds. The story of Apollena is a powerful reminder that no dream is too big if you have the courage to chase it and the right support to back you. My message to them is simple—never stop reaching for the stars, because with the right guidance and belief in yourself, you can overcome any challenge.”
Dr. Rajashree Bothale, former ISRO scientist says, “I am delighted to partner with COLORS, a brand known for its legacy of creating rooted stories that challenge societal norms and Apollena is no exception. The show portrays a young woman’s journey to break barriers in a male-dominated field by aspiring to become India’s first female astronaut and at such time when India is preparing to send man in space. Meeting around hundreds of talented and ambitious girls in Lucknow with the show’s protagonist and being part of the inspiring activity of naming a star ‘Apollena’ in her honor has been a truly memorable experience. As someone who chose the road less traveled to build a career in STEM, join ISRO, travel to Antarctica for field work, I believe this show will ignite dreams and aspirations in young girls across the country.”
Witness the launch of stellar dreams in ‘Apollena – Sapno Ki Unchi Udann’; premieres on December 3rd and will air every day at 6:00 pm only on COLORS.
