Hours before trailer launch, Censor Board objects to 3 dialogues in Thackeray film

TIL Desk Bollywood/ Hours before the launch of its trailer, the biopic on Shiv Sena founder, late Bal Thackeray, has landed in trouble. The Central Board of Film Certification has objected to three dialogues in the film, scripted by senior Shiv Sena leader Sanjay Raut.

Of the three dialogues, two are related to Thackeray’s reference to South Indians and Babri Masjid.  “We are in the process of complying with the Censor Board’s instructions. This will not affect the trailer launch,” Raut said, adding, “Balasaheb’s statements had always been controversial. His style of speaking was such.”

The trailer of the film, starring Nawazuddin Siddiqui as the late Shiv Sena chief, was all set to unveil today at 1:30 pm. The event will be graced by Shiv Sena president Uddhav Thackeray and his son Aditya Thackeray. Earlier talking about his role, Nawaz said, “One of the important aspects of Balasaheb’s character was the ease and the speed of his public speeches. It is important for me to get this ease and speed.”
