TIL Desk Lucknow:👉The UP Rudras proudly launched their jersey today for the Hero Hockey India League at a special event held in the city. Present at the event were the UP Rudras stars, Hardik Singh, Lalit Kumar Upadhyay, Sharda Nand Tiwari and Simranjeet Singh. This marks a historic moment for the team as they prepare for their debut season in the league, which is returning after seven years. The jersey celebrates Uttar Pradesh’s deep hockey heritage and the state’s contribution to Indian hockey.
Uttar Pradesh has given the nation some of its greatest hockey legends, including the iconic Major Dhyan Chand and KD Singh Babu, whose legacy inspires players even today. The orange and blue jersey is a reflection of this proud tradition, symbolizing the passion and unity that drives the team forward.
Speaking at the launch, Team Captain Hardik Singh said, “The Hockey India League is set to start soon, and the event is set to mark the dawn of a new era of Indian Hockey. I can’t wait to pick up my stick and hit the turf with this jersey on. Wearing the UP jersey is indeed a matter of pride as the state’s contribution towards the game has been monumental. Lucknow is fondly known as the City of Nawabs, and our team name beautifully represents the 11 Rudras, who are praised as the mightiest of the mighty—and we are looking forward to putting up a mighty fight to help UP Rudras clinch the HIL title.”
The jersey’s orange represents the energy and determination of the 11 Rudras, while the blue reflects resilience and teamwork. The Hockey India League begins on December 28th with UP Rudras to face Vedanta Kalinga Lancers in their first game of the season on December 30th.
