CM Yogi behaving foolishly: Rahul Gandhi on scribes' arrest

TIL Desk/National/New Delhi/ Congress president Rahul Gandhi reacts to the the arrest of three journalists for allegedly posting and airing ‘defamatory’ content about Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, police said.

The Congress president tweeted, “If every journalist who files a false report or peddles fake, vicious, RSS/BJP sponsored propaganda about me was put in jail, most newspapers/news channels would face a staff shortage.  “The UP CM is behaving foolishly and should release the arrested journalists immediately.”

The Congress party also tweeted its supported for the arrested journalists saying, “Detaining a journalist for sharing a video that presents a state official in poor light is illegal and arbitrary and violates the principles our nation is founded on.”

Three journalists were arrested by Uttar Pradesh police on Saturday.  The arrests triggered debate over the UP polices attempts to curb free speech with political parties demanding immediate release of the scribes.
