Sardar Patel’s dream fulfilled: PM Modi

TIL Desk/National/Kevadia(Guj.)/ Prime Minister Narendra Modi addresses a public meeting in Kevadia, Gujarat on his birthday. The PM said the country is witnessing the fulfillment of Sardar Patel’s dream of ‘Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat’. “India is trying to complete work that was left undone after independence. The people of J&K, Ladakh faced discrimination for 70 years and the country had to bear its consequences in the form of separatism and violence.”

The PM speaking on the Sardar Sarovar project said it catered to the needs of Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra and Rajasthan. “In our culture it is believed that development can be done while protecting the environment, and it is evident here. Nature is dear to us, it is our jewel,” he said. The 133-year-old Statue of Liberty gets 10,000 visitors  per day but 8,500 people visit 11-month-old Statue of Unity daily, he added.

The Prime Minister lauded the vision of Sardar Patel, adding the BJP-led government’s decision last month on Jammu and Kashmir was an inspiration from the former home minister of India. The Union government’s decision on Kashmir is inspired by Sardar Patel and is an attempt to find solution to a decades-old problem, Modi said at at the public rally.
