TIL Desk Lucknow:👉Medanta Lucknow proudly announces the launch of Uttar Pradesh’s first Pediatric & Adolescent Critical Care Unit, offering comprehensive, round-the-clock care for critically ill children and adolescents aged 1 month to 19 years.
This specialized unit addresses a crucial pediatric healthcare gap by integrating pediatric and critical care expertise. It features state-of-the-art facilities including a Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU), Intermediate Care Unit (IPD), and High Dependency Unit (HDU). The multidisciplinary team, comprising pediatric and adult intensivists, provides tailored care for patients with specialized medical demands.
What sets this unit apart is its multidisciplinary approach, combining the expertise of pediatric intensivists, specializing in the care of critically ill children, with adult intensivists to meet the specific or distinctive treatment needs of adolescents. Adolescents often present medical conditions that overlap pediatric and adult care paradigms. This collaborative model ensures that patients receive holistic care customized to their distinctive developmental and treatment needs.
Dr. Athar Jamal, Head of the Pediatric Critical Care Unit at Medanta Lucknow, shared, “Our Pediatric and Adolescent Critical Care Unit is not just about treating illness; it is about providing a comprehensive, patient-centered approach to care. By having a dedicated team of pediatric and adult intensivists, we can offer the highest standard of care to our patients, addressing both the pediatric and adult elements of their conditions.”
Dr. Pushpender Sangwan, Senior Consultant ICU & Adolescent Care Unit, emphasized, “The adolescent age group, typically defined as individuals aged 10 to 19, is characterized by a developing physiology that necessitates synchrony between teams comprising pediatric intensivists and adult intensivists during critical illness. It’s essential to identify the critical factors unique to a growing adolescent. This age group falls into a ‘grey zone,’ where in-depth assessments are crucial to determining the most appropriate specialty care.” Critical care requires constant vigilance and immediate, expert intervention, especially in pediatric cases.
Dr. Dilip Dubey, Director of the Institute of Critical Care Medicine, Pulmonology, and Infectious Disease at Medanta Lucknow, added, “Our goal is to deliver comprehensive, specialized care that meets the needs of our most vulnerable patients. We are proud to offer Uttar Pradesh a super-specialized service, continuously setting new standards in patient care.”
Medanta Lucknow’s pioneering initiative sets a new benchmark for pediatric and adolescent care in Uttar Pradesh, offering super-specialized Critical Care services to the region’s most precious young population.
