TIL Desk/World/Washington/ India and China on Monday reviewed the situation in the border areas and progress made in effective implementation of confidence building measures to improve the relations between their troops on the ground ahead of Chinese President Xi Jinping’s visit to India later this year to hold second informal summit with Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Both sides held the 14th meeting of the Working Mechanism for Consultation and Coordination on India-China Border Affairs in Beijing on Monday, a press release issued by the ministry of external affairs said.
During the meeting, both sides reviewed the situation in the border areas in accordance with the importance placed by leaders of both countries for effective border management, it said. The two sides took note of regular exchanges at the troops level and at diplomatic level, including under the WMCC framework, for maintaining peace and tranquillity in the border areas, it added.
