Kohli’s captaincy feat vs Aus hard to emulate, says Shastri

TIL Desk Sports/ Virat Kohli’s feat of leading India to Test series wins against Australia at home and away won’t be emulated by another Indian captain for a very long time, according to coach Ravi Shastri.

Kohli was captain when India recorded a maiden win over Australia Down Under in the 2018/19 series and won the 2016/17 series in India. While former India captain and spin great Anil Kumble was the head coach during the home win, Shastri held that position during the 2018/19 tour.

“The satisfaction gained in registering India’s first series win in Australia after 71 years of heartbreak was immense,” Shastri writes in his foreword for the book ‘India’s 71-Year Test: The Journey to Triumph in Australia’ written by veteran Indian cricket scribe R Kaushik. Shastri also launched the book at the Sydney Cricket Ground on Wednesday, a day before the third Test between India and Australia starts at the venue.
